he Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) recently paid a visit to Commander NANZING D. SALLAH, the Ondo State Commander of the NDLEA, on November 11, 2025. The main goal of this visit was to strengthen their partnership in tackling drug abuse and related social issues affecting the youth in the state. During the meeting, the Ondo State Youth Network Coordinator, Daniel Dare Dabo, expressed his gratitude to Commander Sallah for taking the time to meet with them, despite his busy schedule. He pointed out that many young people in Ondo are making significant contributions across various sectors, including governance.
The OSYN coordinator Daniel Dare Dabo also shared the proactive steps OSYN has taken to raise awareness in communities about the dangers of drug abuse. He stressed the importance of collaborating closely with the NDLEA to identify and rehabilitate individuals caught up in illicit drug activities. The Network is particularly concerned about the increasing mental health issues among youths linked to substance abuse and has committed to sharing relevant information with the agency to help address these challenges.
Commander NANZING D. SALLAH acknowledged and praised OSYN’s efforts, reaffirming the NDLEA’s dedication to safeguarding youths from drug-related harm. He emphasized that since young people make up a large part of Nigeria’s population, their health and development are vital for the country’s progress. The Commander encouraged young people to support the NDLEA by providing credible information about drug activities and urged the government to enhance support, including the establishment of rehabilitation centers and improving operational facilities.
He also pointed out the federal government’s reforms, like drug testing for applicants to tertiary institutions, as crucial steps toward reducing drug abuse at the grassroots level. In conclusion, The OSYN coordinator Daniel Dare Dabo assured Commander Sallah that OSYN would continue to work alongside the NDLEA to promote a drug-free environment in Ondo State. The ultimate aim is to empower youths to become responsible leaders and make a positive impact on their communities.
