CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO HIS EXECELLENCY, ARAKUNRIN ROTIMI AKEREDOLU, GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE, AND HON. DEMOLA ADEGOROYE, MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT ON THE APPROVAL OF THE ONDO DEEP SEAPORT PROJECT
The Ondo State Youth Network (OSYN) received the good news of the approval of the Ondo deep Seaport with mixed feelings, mostly because previous administrations saw what benefit a seaport would to Ondo state, but had no will to see to its realization. However, this latest feat we consider a worthy effort pushed thus far by the unrelenting efforts of his Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, The executive governor of Ondo state, alongside the ever active Minister for Transport (State) Prince Demola Adegoroye.
The Ondo deep Seaport, a project estimated to cost one billion four hundred million dollars ($1.4b) fully funded by PPP, which is expected to provide about 30,000 jobs for the immediate and host community of Ilaje at completion. The site of the proposed multipurpose port in Ondo, which also has an industrial city with free trade zone status, is said to measure 2,771.2 hectares.
While we congratulate the Government and the people of Ondo state for laudable development, we call on the state government to provide every necessary support and enabling environment to ensure this project is actualized and commissioned for use within the given time frame. We equally enjoin the contractors along with the representatives of government to importantly consider the environmental impact of this project and make necessary provisions.
The Ondo State Youth Network have high hopes this government will give its maximum support to this project for the benefit of humanity as its overall economic value cannot be over emphasized.
